Live review: Heaton Park, Manchester — night one

Two brothers, one stage, 80,000 people losing their minds. A homecoming that lived up to every daft expectation.

It shouldn't have worked. Fifteen years apart, a decade of increasingly personal insults, and enough legal paperwork to wallpaper the Etihad. And yet — from the first chord to the final chorus — it just did.

Liam's voice is somehow better than it was in '09: rougher round the edges but locked in on pitch, hands behind his back, chin tilted at that unmistakable angle. Noel took the lead on the fan favourites and got the loudest reception of the night for Half The World Away. Bonehead came out for the encore. Everyone cried a bit. Some of us are still crying.
